Yoga & diet for…Lupus?
When Michele Poindexter was finally diagnosed with Lupus at age 20, she’d already been dealing with symptoms for years.
…which means, (doing the math for you, here) this woman was managing Lupus symptoms during Algebra classes. At the age most of us were reading Catcher in the Rye, Michele was fighting autoimmune disease.
But not anymore.
This woman is a friggin’ inspiration.
At age 20, she finally learned it was Lupus, and her doc started putting her on immunosuppressive medications, which to her just didn’t feel right.
So she walked away from the system.
And, as all of us who’ve been in that position know, that is a scary place to be, whatever support we have.
But she did her research, changed her diet (did I mention her twin sister also had Lupus and was studying dietetics?), and started a yoga practice that has changed her life. She's now mostly symptom-free, and back to living the life she loves.
Watch for her infectious optimism, and inspiring story!
Now, let’s hear your experience.
What was it like when you finally received a diagnosis? How many years did you go, waiting for one that felt like it really represented what you were living with? What inspires you about Michele’s story?
And most importantly, is there something that doesn’t feel right about the healing path you’re currently on? What would it take for you to change that?
Leave a comment below and let us know. And remember, we learn as much from one another’s experiences as from the books we read, and the experts we each get the chance to talk to.
